| DeWind, S&M in $90M Czech Turbine Deal | Irvine, Calif.-based Composite Technology (OTC: CPTC) said today its DeWind subsidiary received a $90 million turbine order from S&M CZ, headquartered in Jevicko, Czech Republic.
Composite Technology said the 40 turbines, ordered without towers, would be used for installation at multiple sites in the Czech Republic.

| Program Encourages Renewable Energy and Entrepreneurship | The European Commission's Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) was presented Wednesday in Skopje.
Macedonian Economy Minister Vera Rafajlovska and the EU Ambassador Erwan Fouere made introductory address at today's presentation of the CIP. The programme will run from 2007 to 2013.

| Czech Wind Restrictions Debated | Commercial association the Czech Society for Wind Energy (ČSVE) has objected to a proposed amendment to the energy law that calls for an increase in the distance between wind power plants and electric power lines. The association claims it will put a halt to half the wind power projects currently under development in the Czech Republic.

| BioPower Plant to Czech Republic | Wärtsilä Corporation was awarded a contract by Less & Timber, Czech Republic in November 2007 to supply a biomass-fuelled combined heat and power plant for the company’s sawmill in Čáslav, around 100 km east of Prague. This is the first biomass power plant Wärtsilä will deliver to Czech Republic.
The new plant will burn residue in the form of bark and wood chips from the sawmill and have a net electrical power output of 4.3 MWe, and a thermal output of up to 10 MWth. The electricity will be sold to the national grid and the heat will be used for drying in the sawmill.

| ČEZ Ups Q3 Power Output From Biomass by 40 Percent | Czech energy giant CEZ said it produced some 177 GWh of electricity from biomass in the Czech Republic in the first three quarters of this year, up 40 percent on the year, with an increase registered in all CEZ-run power stations burning biomass. | |
| Solar Field Installation Announced for Czech Republic | OPEL International Inc. (TSX VENTURE:OPL), a leading, global developer and supplier of high efficiency concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) panels , today announced that it has entered into an agreement with ENERGY 21 for a series of installations of OPEL's state-of-the-art CPV panels in Central Europe. Under the terms of the agreement, ENERGY 21 will install progressively larger systems in the Czech Republic leading to the installation of its first large solar farm in 2008 and 2009. The systems will use OPEL's Mk-I high concentration CPVs in combination with FEiNA's solar trackers that OPEL will supply under the provisions of its OEM agreement with FEiNA. | |
| Czech-made Fighter Jet Flies on Biodiesel Fuel | Aviation history was made earlier this week in the high desert at the Reno-Stead Airport when an L-29 military aircraft piloted by Carol Sugars and Douglas Rodante succeeded in completing the world’s first jet flight powered solely by 100% biodiesel fuel. The Czechoslovakian-made aircraft is rated to fly on a variety of fuels including heating oil, making it the preferred platform for testing biodiesel in jet engines. | |
